On-The-Job Work Experience

Upon completion of the Pre-Employment Training, RJI members may elect to complete a 5-month paid On-The-Job Work Experience. All OJT members will have the opportunity to earn one or more industry-recognized credentials, complete work projects on a team to gain work experience, and build, apply and practice industry-specific work skills while earning a modest living stipend, along with other benefits. RJI currently offers one OJT option, an environmental AmeriCorps program called Refill Jackson Green Corps, and plans to add a hospitality track called Opportunity Hours in March 2025, as well as a healthcare track in late 2025. All OJT opportunities also include the opportunity to earn a GED, as well as wrap-around social services to address barriers to employment such as housing and food insecurity, access to healthcare, transportation, assistance with childcare, and obtaining vital documents such as a Driver’s License, birth certificate, social security card, etc.
